Slant = Gillette Slide?

I'm not a slant owner, but all of the slant talk on this forum certainly piqued my ineterest. Trying to learn what makes the slant so different, I came across this thread which makes me wonder, is a slant more or less a mechanical implementation of the Gillette slide or is there more to it than that?

Well Mike,
A slant twists the blade and yes in theory it is similar to doing a gillette slide except the Slant exposes more of the blade on one end and the other not as much.. Or the otherway is angling a normal de to mimic the slant but if you are using a mild razor like the super speed, then it will not be as aggressive as the slant can be... Literally the slant can bite you but in overall, I find the slant to be about as aggressive as a Slim Adjustable set on 9! Which is not agressive as it sounds!

I say buy a slant *I am not sure but I did see a 37c on the b/s/t forum here*.. I mainly alternate daily between my hd slant *37C* and sledgehammer slant*39C* and on occasions I will go back to my slim or my ss!

both the slant and slide slice through the blade at an angle, rather than pushing through it head on.

Think about what you do when youre slicing a loaf of bread - you push through it at an angle like this \ and it cuts cleanly, if you pressed straight down, it would mush the bread a bit before it cuts.

Yes. Same basic idea. Neither the slide technique or the slant is currently part of my shaving routine.
