I recently received a new Simpsons Berkeley in best badger from WCS. I have been predominantly using a Simpsons Special in pure that I absolutely love & actually favor over the Berkeley at this point. Now I've only used the Berkeley a couple of times so I guess my main question is how much it will change with use? I've broken in boars but this is my first "higher grade" badger apart from a Parker silvertip I use sparingly. I guess I could also just be more of a fan of the Simpsons in pure too but I really hope I grow to love the Berkeley as i love the Special, even if for totally different reasons.

+1 agree. I have the Special in pure as well and I reserve it for times I want an exfoliating scrub, especially in the summer. The best grade will not change much.
My Berkeley (in Best as well) hasn't changed at all from when I first got it last year.... and that's just fine by me. Loved it from day-1 and still do.
I would be interested in your thoughts about the handle differences because the Special was the other option I looked at when I purchased the 46.

you can always get a Berkeley in pure too.

Rockviper, I like the handle, the Berkeley is a bit shorter than the Special but it's not a problem for me. There's absolutely nothing ''wrong" with it, I just think I may be a bigger fan of the pure hair. It may be a density thing too, I like a lot of flow-through. I'm sure I'll grow to like the Berkeley for what it is & as Rebos said, I can always get more brushes in pure badger...Simpsons are addictive man.
