Shower after shaving?

So I know everyone here says to shower before they shave and whatnot. But I've tried that before and it just doesn't appeal to me at all. My face feels too dry and the whole shave is just really uncomfortable. So I shower after I shave. I find that it calms my skin down and helps with any nicks I have. Before I shave I wash my face lightly and rub warm water in to wake up my skin and clean it out.

Just wanted to see if anyone else did that, if that was a common practice not really talked about on the forums. Post here if you do!

Actually, I think just as many, if not more, people shower then shave. I'm with you, though. I shave, then shower.

I just splash warm water on my face, shave, then shower. I have been shaving before I shower since I started shaving as a teenager (many, many years ago). I didn't know any better and had no one to ask. Every now and then I think about showering first, but I just can't get myself to do it that way.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

i do both. depends on what time i decide to shave. if i feel like shaving in the morning i'll usually shower first. but tonight for instance i was to hungover to shave yesterday so tonight i'll shave then shower in the morning with no shave. I just roll with the flow, no schedule. I do a better beard prep if i don't shower before my shave tho. i'll use a face scrub to remove oils/dirt then shave. whereas if i shower first i'll skip the face scrub.

Yep, shower after shave for me as well. I make a terrible mess at my sink if I try to rinse off there, and I never really get rinsed well enough for my liking. So, I shower after. I get sufficient beard hydration for a good shave with just wetting my face well with my brush while I do other stuff before the shave. Showering before doesn't buy much for me in terms of beard prep.

i shave before going to work and shower when i get home. i shower before shaving on the weekends, but prefer the former. Whatever works for you is what you should do.

I find that my face gets 'puffy' if I shower first and then shave. With good prep, I always get a CCS. Then I shower after because it's so soothing and helps 'close up' any nicks and/or weepers.

Xplode, I don't feel rinsed enough after shaving if I don't shower. So I shave, then shower.

(Off topic: Anyone knows who to remove "Wetshaver wannabe" from under my name?! I don't mind being called a wannabe, but I've been wet shaving for over 20 years... Thanks!)

I usually shower before I shave but I have shaved then showered and a few times just shaved and gone on with my day. It sort of depends on what time it is, what I'm doing afterwards, and if I need to make sure I'm all cleaned up or not.

Yes.

Shave, then shower, then go to bed.

My shave is The Best Prep for me to go to sleep, I have found......RELAXES me!!

I can go either way, but prefer to shave and then shower. Sometimes I even do some touch-ups in the shower if I want a real BBS.

Most of the youtube videos of people like geofatboy tend to recommend a shower first approach. But I go either way depending on the time of the day and the growth.

I find a shower first approach helps with two things (a) if I have a heavier 4-5 day growth then the shower helps soften the beard a little (b) it also gives time for me to soak the brush in hot water while I shower. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to matter and I get similar results regardless of shower/ shave or shave/ shower sequence.
