Shavemac D01 or Red Vey Custom D01

I have a fairly heavy beard and I like to face lather. I've narrowed my choices to these two brushes. My questions are. If Rudy Vey gets his knots from Shavemac why use him and not straight from Bernd? Does Rudy's customization add enough value for the extra price?
Thanks

I believe most of Rudy's knots come from the The Golden Nib. They are a great, bargain-priced knot. I built one into a brush myself. I think it has been mentioned that Rudy built brushes with knots from Shavemac a couple times, not consistently.

That depends entirely on how custom you want your brush handle. Shavemac has an impressive number of shapes and materials to use on the handle. Rudy Vey has an even more impressive selection. Its just getting the handle you want for the brush so in the end the choice is intensely personal.

Hell you might just one one logo or the other on the base depending on your fashonablitites :001_cool:

It is correct that I use a lot of TGN knots, but I also do quite a number of brushes with Shavemac knots, custom made to the specs my customer wants.
Made one today and have two more to finish.

Both offer an exceptional product, it all comes down to what you like as a user. If there isnt a handle design that appeals to you from Shavemac's catalog then Rudy would certainly be able to whip up almost any design you can think of. Also the handle if personalized enough would be uniquely yours. Whether that level of customization and uniqueness is worth the extra cost is entirely up to you, but I'm sure you'll be quite happy with either product. (I'm the happy owner of a Rudy custom w/ TGN finest and a Shavemac D01)
