Both? That is what I am trying to avoid! Brush Acquisition Disorder is horrible!
That one has the potential to inflict some serious pain!
Per My e-mail response from WCS, the only difference is in the handle shape. Both are great.

I think they work great for both. I also would recommend considering the finest grade hair. From what I have gathered from reviews and also in My email, the difference in the finest and silvertip is minimal and some even prefer the finest grade. You can't go wrong with either. The Shavemac rocks.

Thanks for your replies. I already have a Shavemac in finest (21mm knot) but want another brush
I just ordered a #25 in Finest and can't wait to give it a spin! Now back to refreshing the FedEx tracking number page every 30 seconds...

EJ Best Badger
Plisson European Grey
Kent BK4 Silvertip
Rooney 3/1 super
Shavemac 177 silvertip
Saville Row 3824 Silvertip
Simpson Astor Anniversary 65/90
and the best performer so far (cream/soap) is the Shavemac 177.

I recently purchased the #25 in Finest and am very happy with the results. Works well with both creams and soaps, though I only face lather.

I have a Shavemac 25 in silvetip and love it. The handle is wonderfully comfortable.
I've been wondering about the difference (s?) between these two brushes myself..

Try as I might on the WCS site, I do not see a difference in the handle shape. And, would anyone have the handle and knot dimensions on the #25 and $25? I am looking on WCS and on Shavemac, and only see knot diameter. Thanks for the help.
I think you were looking at the wrong knot size. It looks like they're the same price.

Don't know what happened on my "quote", but what I am asking is if someone has the handle size and knot height for 177 and 25 in 21mm. Have asked here, have asked WCS, and am looking forward to learning the dimensions.
I have the 25 in finest with a 21mm knot. The approximate height of the loft is 52mm. Sorry, I'm away on business for the next few weeks so I cannot confirm. From my memory I measured 52mm.
This brush performs very well, feels very soft against the face yet has a little spring.
I don't think you will be disappointed.
