shaved armpits?

This may be a weird question to some, but does anyone else on here shave their armpits? I've been doing it for a while now and I seem to have a lot less problems with odor. It feels much better having no hair in my opinion. I put natural deodorant on and I'm pretty good for the whole day just about. I understand hair traps bacteria in.

I trim mine with every haircut (cut my own hair around once a month), with a #1/2 guard. I haven't noticed much difference with smells, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

Actually I had never imagined to shave my armpits however a very good friend of mine did. I asked why and the answer was simple...feels and smells cleaner. I pondered but never actually did anything about it. One day with my girlfriend while watching TV and post-showered after a very very long 48 hours of work she comments that the pits are still a little ripe. I go back to scrub them longer and she decides to hop in and shave them. There was an immediate effect of no smell, almost as if the ripeness was actually stuck to part of the hair itself. I've continued to shave my pits about every 7-10 days and it has bee night and day. I have noticed that my deo/antiperspirants work that much better (almost no sweating) and they never actually smell bad even after grueling long shifts. I cannot recommend this enough.

First try trimming and seeing how that goes, then try a couple months of shaved pits and see if there is an improvement.

Single WTG pass with my straight once a month.

Been keeping them shaved for the better part of 20 years.

I shave my pits once a week and I love it. Deodorant and antiperspirants seem to be absorbed better and seem to last longer on me as well. Also, like OP, I have noticed that I have ahad a significant decrease in any kind of odor issues after a long day of work (acft maintainer) or after a lot of physical activity.

Started shaving mine about 2 months ago. First one was with a M5/Gillette Guard and both clogged horribly due to long hair. Next time used an injector razor about a month later, WTG one pass, and that seems to work nicely.

That's the nice thing about a straight.
Won't clog, and it's nice and wide so a "single pass" WTG can be done in 2 or 3 strokes.

+1 on this. I've also found that doing this helps to cut down on underarm irritation.

Why do I read these things! I have never thought of trying this before. Upon the start of the post I still thought I would never. Now after reading the above I am thinking of trying it. DANG YOU B&B

I too, use clippers thought I don't leave just stubble. To me, a dude with no pit hair just looks funny, so I leave some behind. I do, however, notice a huge difference in odor when it starts to get longer again.

Always remember. We're here to help.

I shave my armpits completely bald every 3-4 days. I get very little irratation from it, but you should be careful. Apply shaving cream or gel to your underarms and shave. it's quick and painless and as i said, I don't have odor problems anymore

Yes. I keep a Gillette New (that's a bit of an ugly duckling) in the shower for this purpose. I do a single pass with that every other shower. I do think odor is somewhat reduced doing this. I shower *after* I shave, so I just gob the remnants from my brush on my chest before I enter the shower, and use that to shave the pits. Works great!

Every couple of weeks I swipe them clear with a straight while shaving my face. You don't have to get BBS... just get the bulk of the hair. You got to pull your arm behind your head and stretch your elbow waaaaaaay back behind you to get the necessary tight stretch to the skin or you can get a surprisingly painful cut. Follow up with daily swipes with a dampened alum block or stick. Those scented deoderants just REEK. The alum combined with hairlessness simply prevents odor in the first place by making an inhospitable environment for odoriferous bacteria.

If anyone thinks my hairless pits look funny, maybe they shouldn't look up there. 'Sall I got to say bout dat.

Yup, I do too... I used to fight competitively and it seemed the right thing to do (hygienic and oww! issues). Never stopped the habit, just feels cleaner.
