By the way, I believe some artisan shave creams may not have the same shelf life (preservatives/chemicals) as the big brand creams. Consequently, it's wiser to use them quicker. Hopefully, I didn't just misspeak.

I don't refrigerate for shelf life but I might try it for a cold water shave when I shave this afternoon. Into the fridge goes my Proraso Blue!

If it were necessary, or even desirable, to refrigerate shaving cream, it would say so on the label.

If there is any mention of temperature at all, it will suggest to store it at room temperature and avoid extreme heat and cold.

If you do refrigerate it, I suspect that the cream may separate into its various components.

I only refrigerate Nancy Boy because it extends the relatively short shelf life (as recommended by Eric of Nancy Boy).

In three years I have only had to throw away one cream or soap, and that was only because the container rusted. Most products don't come in metal containers, so I really don't worry about shelf life. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I'm grossly oversupplied with soaps and creams and I have not had a problem with this.

I've been wet-shaving for 20+ years and have never had to refrigerate a cream even in places that got very hot. Having said that - I have heard several cases of TOBS separating during transport during hot months.

My guess is that you don't have to worry about spoilage/separation as long as creams are stored away from sunlight in a 'cool' place (<100F).

One of the things I like most about creams is the ability to dip and lather...refrigerating would make it more soap like.

my brain goes "thonk"
I have a .25 sample jar of I Coloniali Rhubarb that I put into the refrigerator because it was a little liquidy when I got it in the mail. I put it in the refrigerator hoping it would make it stiffer. I took it out and left it out and it returned to being liquidy again.
