Sharpest blades out there

I primarily use feathers and Gillette 7oclock blacks. I need a very sharp blade for my steel wire whiskers. What other blades should I try? I am vary happy with these blades mind you, I just like trying different blades is all.

The blades that have felt the sharpest:

Feather
Kai
Gillette Silver Blue (NOS)
Gillette Bleue Extra (NOS)
Gillette 7 O'clock Black
Gillette 7 O'clock Blue

Except for the Feather, which stands out, I had a variety of experiences with these blades but at one time or another they registered with me as a sharp blade. BTW - The Personna Med/Lab, which is often recognized as a very sharp blade, I DON'T consider in the same class as the blades listed above. Unfortunately, they are all higher than average costs.

Try Souplex or Bolzano and see what you think. Kai (as mentioned above) is also a good one.

Have you tried a pre-shave soap like Musgo Real Glyce Lime Oil soap (aka MR GLO)? It can really soften up the whiskers so that you may not need the sharpest of sharp blades or maybe make them work better.

I've tried proraso pre, 3p pre shave, and AOS pre shave oil, the proraso and 3p seem to help sometimes the oil does nothing. If the musgo real soap is better I may try that as well. As far as blades I've tried silver blue and they seemed rough to me, preps are good as are Gillette 7oclock blacks. I have some Bolzano and sharp edge to try, I will look into perma sharps and the others mentioned. Thanks all for the replies,

Your trip is complete, youve found the sharpest there is my friend. Feathers, there is no substitute.

For me the feather is not the smoothest one. I prefer Gillette silver blue and permasharps (russia not india) over feather

It's the blacks and Gillette silver blues I have found to be both on par with Feathers but with the added bonus of being smooth and long lasting. But who knows, you may find others. Good luck!

I agree that Feather's are the sharpest blade.

I also would NEVER use one again!

Way too sharp for me. I like the Persona Reds - just right for me.

i would be interested in finding out which blades have NO wax/glue spots on them...i hate those little goobers.
anyone have a master list of blades without glue/wax?
