Sensor handle?

Not sure if this belongs here, but there isnt a cart section in the razor forum. Anyway, I use a Gillette Sensor when I travel, and occasionally at home. I'm using the same handle that it came with in 1993, and I'd like to upgrade. Unfortunately, I can't find any options (besides 2 I don't really like on emsplace). I'd love to have one made, but I can't fin anyone who sells the hardware either. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm looking for a new handle to put Sensor carts in that would be on the same level as some of the aftermarket DE handles (i.e., not just a stock new handle frmo Gillette). Or, I'm looking for the "head" piece that I can attach to a turned handle.

Merkur makes a handle that comes with adapters that allow it to work with Sensor, Atra, and Trac 2. I recall reading that people have used the Sensor adapter with the Bump Fighter handle to create a custom Sensor handle.

I'm pretty sure that Shavemac and the English Shaving Company also offer Sensor handles as an option.

Also, Personna makes a handle for their own cartridge system that works with Sensor cartridges.

I'm being a little picky, but I saw one like the Merkur handle on emsplace - not really my style. Nothing listed on English Shaving Co, and the only thing on Shavemac is part of a 4-piece customer set (for 250 Euros - yikes!). But, I sent them an e-mail to see if there were options.

I have an Edwin Jagger Sensor handle for sale if you're interested.

I may be interested after this! Feel free to PM me with details.

I used a Sensor 5-6 days a week from 1993 until a year ago, and only used a Gillette Slim, with various shave liquids, once a week. I always wanted a Sensor handle with slightly more mass to it. These days, I use an SE, Injector, or DE most of the time, and the Sensor about once a week.

However, the handles I've seen offered seemed quite expensive. I would be interested in trying out whatever Personna you are referencing, however.

I believe the one I'm thinking of is the Tri-Flexx; The Personna cartridges themselves are similar to the Sensor 3. The handle uses the same lock-up as a Sensor and will take Sensor cartridges. I recall it being mentioned in an earlier thread.

Bang.

Stainless heft. O-rings or grooves, depending on your mood.

When I was still using my Sensor regularly I asked someone on the forum about the Merkur handle (the one with the adapters). Was told that the Merkur adapters were flimsy, so I didn't pursue that as an option. I have no first-hand knowledge; just thought I would mention what I was told. I was looking for a handle in case mine failed. Bought several regular ones for backup.

Edit: would mention that the Trac II is mentioned as a very good cartridge razor (I have never used one myself). And I know that heavy duty Trac II handles show up every once in awhile. Think C&E made one, and have seen several in sterling silver pop up on ebay.

I have occasionally been on the lookout for the same thing. I use a Sensor for most of my shaves these days. CO Bigelow has one on their site, but it's pretty pricey. I think it's a Bigelow-branded Edwin Jagger one.
