Semogue 830 - What a SWEET Brush!

My new Semogue 830 Boar just arrived today via parcel post and I can tell already just by looking at it and holding it in my hands that this sweet brush is going to be near, if not AT the top of my list as far as my favorite brush. I feel it definitely has the strong potential to be my favorite regular "go to" brush.

It's just gorgeous, nice substantial 44mm acrylic handle size, great color, premium (immitation badger) banded boar with 90% Tops. 22mm knot X 55mm loft.

WOW, now that it's here, I am impressed!! :thumbup1:

Nice brush, eh? Yeah, mine is a good little lathering machine. You should be pleased with it, for a good long while.

What's with the semogues? I can't really get a good feel for any of my boars..

My badgers do me good though.

The thing is, to look at a picture of it, (even a good picture of it) doesn't nearly do it justice. You need to hold this baby in your hands to fully appreciate it. I haven't used it yet but already I love this brush.

Semoque and Boar bristles, what a brush. Just ordered an 1800 to add to the collection. Now I want an 830 too, they just don't make a bad brush. Scrubby, soft, lathery, n' purty handles too.

I think the 830 is actually the softess/most luxurious feeling of all my brushes. For reference, I have Semogue 1305, 830, 730 and Rooney 1/2). Probably the 830 and 730 are my favorites of those. I call them "the twins". Same handles in different color, same knot size and loft. Only difference is one is badger and one is boar.

Moral of the story, don't fear the boar! This is a really nice brush, and a HUGE bang for the buck. I think this is a great brush for beginners & vets. High on quality, low on price.

Omega 10018 and VDH standard. I can't seem to get my hands on a boar for a reasonable price. 30 just seems eh.

If you're comparing a cost of $30 to the likes of entry level Boars, then yes I might agree with you. But that's like saying you wouldn't pay more then $50 for a Badger with the characteristics of the "pure badger" grade. Again, a fair statement but you forget that there are better (higher) quality grades available. Silvertip versus Pure Badger in the case of Badger and Premium Boar as opposed to entry level Boar. Sounds like you've never experienced what a better grade of Boar can deliver, so your statement is quite understandable.

I think $20-30 for quality boar is very reasonable. Compared to a $30 badger, it's a lot of brush for the money. Hey, compared to a $80 badger, it's still a lot of brush for the money.

Does anyone know the owner of TGN? If so, maybe you can convince him to get some boar knots. This badger knots are top notch and I'm sure his boar grades would be, as well.
