What's new

Semogue 730 is fast becoming my #1

Having a meager selection of brushes compared to many here on B&B, my Semogue 730 (purchased from Shaving Essentials - a great place to deal with!) is really an ideal all around brush. My #1 used to be a Merkur Vision silvertip that I've now used for almost 2 years, but I found it a little stiff for creams. I have a C&E (made by Edwin Jagger) Super Badger large brush, which is luxurious, but calling it a cream hog, would be an understatement. So right in the middle is the Semogue 730, perfect size, just stiff enough for soaps and soft enough for creams, but it is not a cream hog, yet it easily holds enough lather for 3+ passes.

From a bang for the buck standpoint I can't think of a brush so far that beats it. I am thinking about buying two more for gifts for a few guys who have done some big favors for me recently to help introduce them to better lather than the cans of goo they've been using provides them. I'll throw in a tube of Proraso and a large cappacino cup and they'll be prepared to improve their shaving.

I am forming the same opinion of the Semogue 2015HD. I purchased mine from Leon at The Vintage Scent Company, I have not seen this brush elsewhere.

John

Ditto on the 2015 HD; I am really starting to love this brush. Have had it for a month or so I guess, and I wanted to wait until it was broken in to do a formal review, but I really enjoy this brush -- seems like a great all around brush.

And Leon at vintagescent.com is a great vendor and easy to deal with -- I have had several smooth transactions.

My 2015 Silvertip in oak is also my favorite. Works great first time every time.

Semogue brushes should get much more attention than they do.
