Self tie bowties

doctordial

my brain goes "thonk"
Are bowties making a resurgence? I the movie The Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio and after
I saw it I said to myself I have to get some bowties. They take some getting used to tying them though and I figured If I was going to get one, I was going to get one I had to tie. I did and got compliments on it. It'sgoing to take some practice though.

I have been wearing bow ties for a couple of years now, and tying them is now second nature. I had to remove my tie and shirt at the doctor's office last week and I tied the tie without a mirror and the doctor was amazed that I could do it so easily. It just takes practice.

If you are gonna wear one, make sure it's a real one that you tie. When you wear it and people ask, you can proudly say that you tied it yourself. And they will ask. Almost every time I wear one, I get the question.

Now half as wise
I've been wearing them for 20 years or more. My answer to "casual Friday" when that was in vogue. They are definitely making a comeback. Only self tie, a you will get asked if you tie it yourself.

Please no pre-tied. Pre-tied looks to perfect and belongs with rental tuxedoes. Try to stick to understated patterns or you'll get too much attention for wearing a bow tie.

Impressive Sir!

I'm no stranger to the bow tie but I certainly couldn't tie one without a mirror.

I wear one on occasion, and with formal wear, of course. The awe that tying it yourself inspires in others is quite satisfying, but I am no master such as you, good sir.

I recently had to attend a black tie function. The first time in decades.

The 22+ year old pre-married suit and shirt were still presentable (funny how fashion comes back into fashion) and I could still fit into them - just but I still could.

I did figure though that being over 40 a pre-tied would not be acceptable any more and decided to learn to do a self tie.

After wading through many instructions and YouTube without a lot of success I found this video. It made it really really easy. If I can do it anybody can!

I attended an outdoor wedding this summer in which the gentleman were requested to wear bow ties. I will +1 the video Mark1966 suggested, it was an invaluable resource to me (and the groom, I found out several months later).

Never considered wearing a bow tie, because I thought it would be difficult to tie. The video that was posted makes it look easier then I thought

Started to wear bow-ties a few months ago. Got a total of 22 in my collection. The best compliment I got was from a woman who told me, "David, they work for you".

If you're going to wear them get the ones you have to tie yourself. They have character compared to those "perfect" clip-on bow-ties.

BTW, "chicks dig them".

I've been wearing bow-ties for a few years now. I work in banking and have a strong repugnance for traditional neckties. I have both self tie and pre-tied varieties. Not to mention, I get great compliments on my bow-ties daily.

I almost gave up in my quest until I stumbled across this video too - it makes it very easy.

Trust me - if I can do it - anybody can!
