Brooks Brothers ties not 100% silk--questions

This is going to reveal perhaps too much about where I actually shop, but I am going to ask anyway.

By way of background, I remember not so long ago that it was fairly easy to get Brooks Brothers ties at various "outlets" that were marked irregular even though it was hard or impossible to spot any imperfections in them. These ties seemed like top of the line BB, not the 346 label ties, that, to me, were clearly not up to regular BB standards. I do not see as many of those around anymore, although Amazon seems to have some BB ties they are selling identified as irregular.

I have not seen many BB ties at Nordstom Rack, as I recall, but it seems to have started to carry some just recently. Some of these NR BB ties are identified on the NR webpage, in the details, as 100% silk. However some of the NR BB ties are described as being made of a blend of silk and polyester, usually mostly silk. When I look on the regular BB website, all of the silk ties (as opposed to, say, wool ties), seem to be identified as being 100% silk.

Does anyone have any thoughts about what might be going on here? Is a BB tie with some polyester in it likely to be of good, durable quality? Are these NR supposed BB ties really not BB first line, but something made to be sold in outlets? The polyester content does not seem all that high. I would not think there would be that much cost savings of using just a bit of polyester as opposed to all silk.

I have been very happy with regular all silk BB ties over the years, whether they were marked irregular or not. I have not been happy with their 346 ties or anything that came from a BB outlet, unless I was certain that it was the same thing that was carried in regular BB stores.

Cheers!
