Seeking suggestions for DE #3

I have a Merkur Futur and a 1904 open comb. love the Futur, except that its just too bulky to get around the jawline and under nose. The 1904 has great maneuverability, and a decent shave, but I was hoping for something just a little more aggressive when I bought it. So im looking for something on the small-mid, more aggressive side. There's just no reason to stop at 2 razors, right? I need to be prepared for all possible scenarios.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

If you're open to going vintage, a Gillette New is great for getting under the nose. I haven't used the 1904 to compare but I consider the New moderately aggressive. If you prefer to stick with a current manufacture razor, the Progress or one of the Cadet open combs would make a fun 3rd.

Weber Stainless would be a nice option if you want to stick with modern razors. I've not tried either of you current razors, but I find the Weber to be slightly more aggressive than the Merkur 34C. Runs $70 I believe.

I think you have some good suggestions
Red Tip
Merkur 34c or 37c
Weber w/bulldog handle
Merkur Progress
Ikon SB, OC

I'm about as big of a Gillette NEW fan as there is. The American short comb is the milder of the NEW's, but definitely more aggressive than your 1904. The long comb is a bit more aggressive than the short, but still a very good shave. You can pick up a decent user grade example for $25 or less.

I also have the Weber. I was done with safety bar razors because I couldn't get a close shave without irritation using one. Then I got talked into a Weber, and I'm sure glad I did. It is as efficient as the NEW short comb, which really surprised me. So far, the only razor that has shaved me as close with as little irritation is the English NEW long comb. The English NEW's are smoother than the USA models.

The Weber is definitely worth $70. It's so well made, the weight is amazing and the shave is even better. More aggressive than an EJ89 or a Muhle R89, but in such a good way. It feels so good in your hands and the weight of the razor really lets you put no pressure on the head. I always have to do 3 passes with a ton of cleanup. With the Weber it's 3 passes and just a bit of cleanup, which is an amazing step in the right direction for me.

I say, get a NEW and a Weber. You'll still be out less than a C-Note.

Without having yet had a chance to get a Gillette NEW, I would recommend it. It is the razor I am hoping to get to try in a near future, especially the short comb version. I have been looking at the geometry and reading quite a bit and it sounds like the perfect razor.

I am somehow in the same situation. I have a Merkur open comb razor that I will never get rid of as it is very great those days my skin is sensitive or I need to shave in a real hurry. Still I wish a moderate aggressive open comb razor for a closer shave between.

I have not found any modern versions of NEW, except for iKon Open Comb Deluxe (stainless steel), which is a copy of Gillette NEW Deluxe. Sadly it is very expensive.

+1 for the English Gillette New sc. For me it's very easy to get into tight spaces and fairly aggressive, but not to the point it causes any damage if used carefully.

Thanks for all the input. The best option is probably just to get them all, right?
Besides Ebay, any suggestions on where one might procure a NEW SC?

The NEW's pop up on the BST here fairly often. If you watch closely you will find one here...and for a better deal than on the bay probably. However, if you're in more of a hurry, eBay would be fine. Just watch what you pay. Set a max price for yourself and stick to it.

In the meantime, you can order the Weber and it will be to your house within 3 days of the date you order it.

ATT Kronos with the R Plate. Expensive but absolutely excellent and definitely worth the money I spent on it.

The OLD works just as well as the NEW :)

Can't go wrong with just about any vintage Gillette. Shout out for a Superspeed too - 40's or Flare Tip wold do just nicely.
