Second best shave ever - and again it wasn't Gillette

It was a gold Schick Krona that I picked up as part of a 3 razor buy off eBay last week. I used a Super Iridium blade on it's third shave. Lathered up with Erasmus cream. Triple pass and apart from a little touch up needed around the Adams Apple it was BBS. It's hard to describe but the razor felt both smooth and aggressive at the same time. So this now runs a close second to my GEM 1912.

I too was amazed at how good a Schick DE performed when I took one for a spin a few weeks ago. I didn't like the hand feel . . . but I'm sure I would have adjusted if I really wanted to keep that one in my rotation. It gave me a DFS in two easy passes with no irritation.

I get "Better than Gillette" results, too, from a Gem Jr . . . Just proves that equal or superior products can be trumped by first-class marketing!

Lately, I have been using a Krona paired with a NOS blade and quite frankly, I have never had a better shaving experience.

What does the 1912 look like? and about how much does a decent one cost?

Seems like I've been hearing about these alot lately.

Thanks.

There is a great section on SE razors in the Wiki with pictures here

They really are quite affordable - you can find them in great condition for well under $20.

I have a Gem Jr that I use with Treet SE blades from Rite-Aid . . . BBS every time! (And it sounds really neat, too!!) :thumbup1:

You can pick one up on eBay for around $10-$20. Put in a Personna or Ted Pella single edged blade and you'll have one of the best shaves of your life.

...Schick Krona that I picked up... It's hard to describe but the razor felt both smooth and aggressive at the same time...

Picked up a Schick Krona last week.

I probably wouldn't of bought it if it wasn't for the positive comments and reviews I saw on B&B. Guess I was turned off by the plastic handle.

Glad I picked it up for $11.

It is a great shaver.
