Scuttle

Is a shaving scuttle just like a lathering bowl, or is there more to it?

It is a pot. Bowl with outside wall. you fill it with hot water to keep your leather in bowl warm. Do a search on scuttles there are a few threads with pics.

You can use it as a lather bowl, but the design of it to allow the hot water makes it a nice addition to your shave gear.
