Scuttle Question, Becker and DB

i've been browsing scuttles and am leaning towards a robert becker or a dirty bird.

of the largest sizes of each, which one holds more water or are they about the same?

does the stopper in the spout accomplish anything on the becker scuttles? i guess the theory is heat retention but i'm not sure in practice if it would matter -- hence my question.

thanks!

I have 2 scuttles coming from Robert Becker. The #2 I ordered holds 2 cups of water and the #8 I ordered holds 3-1/2 cups of water. That's a lot. I will use the stopper, I'm pretty sure. Can't wait to use it.

the DB will likely be heavier and more polished look.

in order to give water sizes, you will need to pick out a model and maybe someone can help. i have a DB1.5, but am not sure if that's the size you are interested in.

oh yeah, the DB is the by far, the best bowl scuttle on the market. :thumbup1:

to be honest, some of RB scuttles are very nice and classy looking, but i find some very odd looking in terms of glazes and the swirling etc. if i was to get a RB, which i had debated in the past, it would be a solid design, NO stopper or lid.

the stopper on my GT was useless, served no purpose, got in the way and the heat from the water kept pushing it out during use.

+1 on the DB. I have the regular size and the 1.5. After getting the 1.5 I never use the other anymore. IMHO you can't beat that 1.5.

I was leaning towards DB but I think this clinches it. Thanks for the help!

Both are nice scuttles, but I would recommend the R.B.Its much cheaper, and holds more water than the DB,and works just as good if not better!Aalso try using a real cork in the stopper hole.It will not pop out.

Even though they are both scuttles, it's a bit of apples and oranges type thing.

Their is much love for both brands, but I think there's simply much more material in the Dirty Bird. So it should hold more heat. However, the DB is significantly more costly that the Robert Becker scuttles.

For me a scuttle is a luxury, so I waited quite a few years before investing in a DB 1.5.

they both look like good options. something about the shape of the DB appeals to me more. but, i'm going to fight, uh, discuss, colors with wife over the weekend and that will be the final factor.
