How do they shave / compare to an L1?

Both are in my current rotation. I've been getting excellent shaves with the J1 and a Schick blade. Not so good with the L1 and a Pella blade, which I used this morning. I do remember getting better shaves with the L1 and other blades in the past, and the heads on the two look practically identical, but the J1 just works better for me.

Thanks. I am looking forward to trying the J1. Quite happy with my L1, so if it is as good, or even better...

Client came and handed me the J1. Nos/nib, just some slight damage to the box. Will do my morning shave with it and compare it to the L1.

First impression: more smooth, about as close as the L1 with a PAL Hollow Ground injector blade.
Not to copy you, but I used my J1 this morning, only with a modern Schick blade. For me, it's one of those deceptively mild razors. Doesn't feel aggressive, but the beard comes right off.

Indeed. I also have a G1 but that one doesn't cut with the PAL Hollow Ground blades. The L1 and the J1 do.
I picked up an L at an antique place last week and after a few goes with some Ted Pellas I decided pretty quickly that I MUCH preferred the handle on the J-types or the L's. That was the only real difference I saw.
