Scent samples in the UK

Just wondering if there any good sources for trying out scents in the UK. Most of those offering a good selection of samples I've stumbled across have been over the pond.

I've wandered into the fragrance departments a few times when she leaves me unattended but never really feel I've gotten anywhere. Just getting within a few yards is an onslaught on the olfactory senses. I picked up Czech & Speake and Floris samples vials last year and being able to wear the fragrance for a few days made all the difference in the world.

The other bit of advice I'm looking for, less location based, is where to start. What would be a good selection of samples that cover the main genres or scent families? I have a few scents I've picked up over the years as presents and as mentioned I've tried a few samples. Some I like, some I love, some just confuse me. I think I need to educate my nose a little before picking up full bottles.

Thanks ScentFreak, no need for recommendations to be UK based just UK delivery is great, that one looks perfect.

Any suggestions on where to start?

Most popular ones guys talk about on here are Aventus and Green irish Tweed by Creed.
also Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille is really good.
How old are you?
Do you prefer shavers type of colognes or open to try pretty much anything?

Good stuff, thanks guys. That gives me something to go on.

ScentFreak: I'm 30 & open to trying pretty much anything, I enjoyed most of the C&S samples I tried and really took to the No88 & Cuba. Shaver style I like Taylors No 74 and I've always had a bottle of CK One around since I hit my teens.

As mentioned Penhaligon's and Floris will send you samples if you ask. Their scents are on the tall side of pricy so may not be a good idea to get too attached to any of them :001_smile

Part of the motivation for the thread is my attachment to the C&S samples I picked up, I wanted to have a sniff around before I splashed out on some C&S. I got the Floris sampler, only took to one of them of which the name has long since came off the vial :( but I much preferred the C&S offerings. I do recall being quite taken with a few of the Penhaligons I sniffed before the local store closed down here, will have a look online or pop into the London store next time I'm passing.

I highly recommend Dior Eau Sauvage (edt or edp) and any of the Acqua di Parmas (Essenza, Intensa, Assoluta and the original colonia) if you want that clean fresh (just shaved) type of smell.
Royal Oud by Creed is also a very classy scent for men.

read my reviews thread. I have 6 reviews in 2 pages there. including tobacco vanille and royal oud

I also recommend Creed original Santal and Virgin Island Water.
Original Santal is a little fruity but can be worn to pretty much any occasion.
Virgin island Water is good for the summer or spring. It has a tropical feel to it. The coconut note in the initial opening will take you to a tropical island if you close your eyes :)

Green Irish tweed and Aventus must be on your must-try list though if you ask me.
