What's new

Scale material sources? Specific needs.

Must be monitor differences. Anyway, if anyone knows what orange marmalade looks like, that's the scale color/appearance I'm looking for. The straight I started with that belonged to my great uncle had them, but they had to come off due to cell rot.

Thanks, Jim

That razor you linked to looks like mottled blonde horn.

HLS,

Thanks for posting the links. I really like the looks of the horn from scale blanks on there. I'll have to search what's involved with finishing them from there. Wow!

To me it looks more like celluloid than anything else... Hard to come by , but not impossible. If you find some , just use normal safety measures when working it.. mask, etc..

mycarver makes his own acrylic in all sorts of patterns and colors (what can't that man do). I don't know what's involved and whether it's economic, but you could pm him.

Hey There

Take a look at micarta on eBay. You can get it in almost any color or style. You can also make it yourself with relative ease.

Thanks

The vendor for wood scales has some longer lengths and will also cut to order. The other vendor's horn scales come in different lengths. I just finished some horn scales that are beautiful amber/gold/orange with black streaks. Once I get my Bluebeard blade and lead wedge pinned in I will post pictures.

Jim

those are knife scales they are too short to make razor scales, does he cut to length if you ask him or he also lists longer pieces?
