I'm pretty new at this and need some help with expectation setting.
The scent from the Captain's Choice Bay Rum sample and the bottle of the same don't match.
The scent from the sample starts out as very strong cinnamon, a bit of orange and a bit of clove that fades to clove, but hangs on for about 1/2 an hour.
The scent from the bottle is meeker, starting with clove/orange or even "balsa wood" and fades within a couple of minutes.
(Yes I shook the bottle).
Is that sort of variation to be expected? Is there a chance the bottle is a bit "off?" (There appear to be floaters in the bottle.)
Or do they "punch up" the samples for marketing purposes?
Do you all have any insight?
Thanks,
WW
