Sample and Test

I have the soap that you see in these videos....

http://shavingsaving.com/

I bought it to try it out and see if it works or doesn't work. It is a large bottle (a liter), so for fun and grins and to PIF, as we do here in the wet shaving world, I am offering samples to anyone that wants to try it. Whether if you think it's bull or true, I don't care. Your thoughts after usage would be interesting to hear.

Here's the deal....experienced shavers....eh, anyone. I said experienced due to knowing how to build lather and what to look for, but doggone it, anyone that's wanting to try it out...as long as I can. Probably about 20 people.

Contact me with your mailing address via PM and I will send you out a sample to try. Let's do a collaborative review on the product and see if it truly does work well. Don't feel obligated to send any results, enjoy the sample and let it be that. If you want to, cool. Just thought that with this guy on the video being the ONLY thing most of us have seen about it, well....who knows.

Any takers?

To clarify: One, if you do not believe me, that's your own fault. But, here is my disclaimer. :) I am NOT affiliated with this company or maker of such product. I found the video via the forums and found the product. That is that. I'm deciding to spread the joy and love (PIF). If it were a small 2 oz bottle, I'd not be here writing this.

If you want more information about the product or if you do like it and want your own, I can tell you where I bought it. That is all that I will do.

And, to add to that...I have not yet used it. So, we're all going to be in this together.

Even if it did work as well as the claims, it'd be no fun to take away all our smelly soaps. Perhaps adding this to what we use may help more? Like I said, I don't know..I have not tried it. As soon as I do, I'll let you know my thoughts.

Thanks! If you have any questions, let me know.

No thanks, but I will be happy to laugh at you all when you suffer the worst case of razor burn of your lives.:lol:

Hey, try it out to prove it wrong.

I've not tried it yet. Picked up a bottle today and said, doggone it, I'm going to see. The guy I got it from tried it and said he felt it was a closer shave and he suffered no irritation.

Who knows?

It's a large bottle, samples cost a stamp (so long as I can keep finding something to put them in) so, why not?

The findings will be interesting to say the least. May be true, may not. Hence, testing it out.

If it is good or bad, one person's word is not convincing.

Today I tried this for the first time.

My results....

a poor lather, if you will. Not the thick rich stuff we as wet shavers long for.

Okay, so looking beyond that.

I got out of the shower and with Gillette Tech in hand lathered up with this stuff.

I did a fairly quick N-S pass and several buffs along the jaw. Why after first pass? I don't know...I just did.

I relathered and did a little slower and gentler S-N pass. I finished my buffing and clean up along the jaw.

I rinsed, did a cold water splashed and finished with Ogallala Bay Rum aftershave. (Great stuff)

During my second pass towards the bottom of my neck I felt like I was going to get a little bit of burn.

To my surprise, I did not.

Is the the closest shave to be had? I don't think so. It IS closer than I've been getting. And, if you used this with a cartridge I imagine it would be your closest. I don't think there's a need to speed shave as seen on the video. That takes the Zen out of it. But, I suppose the option is there.

My skin has no irritation and is pretty smooth, as stated.

Would I use it again? Sure. All the time? No. Takes the fun away from building lather, and your entire rotation. Will I add it to the rotation? Yes. But after a little more "testing". By that I mean determining the proper amount to use, etc. See if better lather can be built. What I had was VERY airy. But, it worked.

Now, one thing I really DID like and is cause for me to try it out more...it kept my razor spiffy clean. It is, after all a cleaner. LDC is Light Duty Cleaner. And, the coolest part, it does something to the hair so that it doesn't float in the water. It goes straight to the bottom of the sink. Makes clean up uber cool.

I think what I will do is add a few drops to my brush and use in conjunction with other soaps and creams. The benefits of keeping the razor clean and the sink like that are a huge plus to me. I don't know how this will effect lather, if it will or what, but I'll try and find out.

Those of you waiting for samples, please be patient. I can't seem to find anything decent enough to pour them off in. I'll look more this weekend. I usually recycle old bottles and sampler packages, but I've PIF'd all those out it seems. I'll accumalate some more. Thanks for your patience.

I added this to my CO Bigelow today. Just a few drops. It seemed to add a little more glide and help keep the razor clean a little. I can't comment on the hairs dropping to the bottom of the sink because I shaved in the shower.

I don't recall seeing any on the bottle. You can look on their website, GNLD and search for product, LDC. (Light Duty Cleaner). Other than that, I'm not sure. I do know their "thing" is green, so I concern myself little. Nothing can be as bad as what is in mass marketed shampoos and body washes, etc. But, look there at the website and see what you can find out. Personally, I do not know.

Is there an ingredient list?
From the GNLD website:
LDC ingredients: water, linear alkyl benzene sulfonate sodium & triethanolamine salt, sodium laureth sulfate, cocoamide dea, cocoamidopropyl betaine, sodium xylenesulfonate, urea, opacifier, preservatives, fragrance, color.

Is this the same thing? This liquid is radioactive orange in colour! I don't wanna try it and grow mutant hairs that a feather won't take out :p

Are you supposed to use it on its own, or mix it with a soap/cream?

Ha Ha...yes...that is what that is. Per the video posted you use it on your own. I've used it both ways. With and without. It has its benefits. Kind of interesting. I only grew an extra ear, so you'll be okay.

GNLD prides themselves on being green. Not harmful to the environment. Infact, you can search and find a video of them using this very substance to clean oil off penguins in an oil spill. Heck, I tried it washing my dogs and it worked great!

i know some of those ingredients come from a natural origin. Others...I can't pronounce. I have no clue what they are. One can only assume they are safe if infact they are using them on animals and such. However, if we were to look at what is sold to us in a store to use on our person, what with the harsh chemicals and such, it'd astonish you. I read a bottle of Axe once. It was horrifying.

I'm no chemist, I don't know what half these things are. May have google them and try to figure it all out.

But you can lather and clean your glasses with it!! Surely that makes it superior to all of the soaps and creams we use by far!
