VB has a new Rooney Heritage 2 Band on sale: The "Highlander" Size 2. 24/50mm knot. I have not bought a new Rooney Heritage in a while. I own Alibaba Size 3 in both Heritage 3 and 2 Band and a Stubby 1 from the original "gel" batch. I owned and sold a 1XL (gel batch) and an Emillion 2 from a later batch. I was wondering how the "3rd Generation" Heritage 2 Band - as advertised by Jim - would perform.
Below are some pictures. The brush is a medium dense, fan shaped brush. More dense than the Stubby range , less than the 1XL - a sweet spot?
The later Heritage batches have been more scrubby than the early "gel" batch. Scrubby with a bit of a scritch, no scratch.
The latest batch - advertised as closer to Rooney Finest - feels similar to the previous one, i.e. scrubby with a slight scritch but not uncomfortable on the skin. The knot feels and looks very similar to the Emillion 2 I used to own. The shorter handle, however, makes it more suited for face lathering than the Emillion handle. The "gel" days are clearly a matter of the past. Those who own one and like it - hold on to it --- seems there won't be any more like this.
Overall the "Highlander" is a very nice brush. The last pictures shows it next to a Thäter 4125/1 fan. The knots are very similar in size and density - but the Thäter has without any doubt the SOFTER tips.
