I have no recollecxtion of using or liking the canned Rise that started the revolution toward foam in the can back when it was relatively "new" (it had been around, and advertised, for 4-5 years, already, when I first started shaving, and had already converted a large percentage of those who hadn't converted to electric shavers previously. Maybe I tried it, but if so, it's lost in the mists of memory.
Somewhere recently, I read that there was a Rise cream in a tube available, and I saw it at somewhere such as Dollar Tree and it was cheap enough to try and throw away if it didn't work.
However, it did work. I thought I was leaving early today, and had skipped a shave yesterday, so I was planning to use a cream, and an Injector, a combination that allows a speedy shave with acceptable results, but Rise wasn't what I had in mind, until I spotted it on the shelf and said to myself "Why not"?
Indeed, yes. It has almost no scent, and is almost transparent once applied. It is thin-bodied, non-lathering, and nothing about it promises anything special. However, it really works, and does so better than many others I've tried. Every Man Jack isn't even in the race compared to Rise. As noted, I rushed, and didn't even use hot water. I didn't change blades, and I think I've used that particular Chick close to a dozen times.
Bargain price, better than average shave.
