More from my list of recently tried scents:
- D.R. Harris / Freshening Cologne - Freshening Cologne is a citrus chypre - a "classic lemon with undertones of bergamot" scent according to the D.R. Harris website. For citrus lovers like me, it smells absolutely wonderful. For citrus lovers like me, the longevity is a crime, as this juice is more of a cheap aftershave than a cologne in staying power. The only juice with shorter longevity is G.F. Trumper's / Extract of West Indian Limes. If it only had longer longevity I'd buy some.
Rating: Cindy gives it - 8/10; I give it - 6/10 (I dinged it for the longevity issue)From Basenotes:
Longevity: 10 minutes or less for me. YMMV.

===================== - D.R. Harris / Traditional Cologne - Traditional Cologne is a citrus chypre based on orange oil according to the D.R. Harris website. For citrus lovers like me, it smells wonderful - though I prefer the lemon scent of Freshening Cologne better. ===================== - D.R. Harris / Arlington Cologne - Arlington Cologne is a fresh fougère based on "light citrus notes with fern" scent according to the D.R. Harris website. This is an odd scent to my nose. It smells great in their shaving soap puck, but too soapy for me to use as an actual "cologne" - especially one that has such a short longevity to it.
Rating: Cindy gives it - 8/10; I give it - 6/10 (I dinged it for the longevity issue)From Basenotes:

===================== - Castle Forbes / Keig - Keig is a citrus chypre, but that's about all I can say about it. It doesn't stand out from the field at all, doesn't have the claimed longevity, doesn't have much in complexity - just a citrus aftershave or splash that fades real fast.
Rating: Cindy gives it - 5/10 (the sandalwood for her); I give it - 6/10 (I dinged it for the longevity issue)From Basenotes:
Longevity: 20 minutes or less for me. YMMV.
Top Notes: Lemon, Lime, Mandarin
Middle Notes: Sandalwood, Cedarwood
Base Notes: Musk, Amber
===================== - Colonel Conk / Bay Rum - This is supposed to be a bay rum aftershave/cologne - dunno what I received, but it looks like a liquid soap (light to medium pink) and smells like something I'd wash dishes with. Seriously, there is *no* bay rum scent in this sample, which came as a package of bay rum scent samples from Barclay Crocker. All I get from it is soap, soap and more soap.
Rating: Cindy gives it - n/a; I give it - 0/10From Basenotes:
