Review of Avon Iron Man Glory

Got this in the mail today from a good friend of mine :) This is something I'd never expect to be good. It's an Avon scent named after a competition, and plus it's a flanker of the Avon product  The back of the box says something about it being a scent with icy bergamot, cool mandarin leaves, and manly cedarwood (or something). So, what is it like? Well, the first blast if completely citrus. COMPLETELY. It's like sniffing a hundred oranges. It'd be a decent clean scent for that, but as it dries down the cedarwood comes out. Imagine shoetrees. They smell awesome, right? Imagine that with oranges and this is the fragrance. It has fully dried down by now and is about six hours later and it's pretty much cedarwood now. Nice and cool cedarwood, very woody and nice. I love it; a great fresh warm weather outdoorsy scent. I'm very impressed. If you'd like an idea of what it smells like, it's similar to Old Spice Fresh (I believe it is called)...the one that is very orangey. The top note reminds me a little of the one spray of Adidas Deep Energy Body Spray I tried once, but the thing is I can't remember it that well. I don't exactly remember it even drying down so maybe someone can let me know how it is! Anyways, this fragrance is great!

I clicked on this thread because I thought it was a movie review. I was wondering why it was posted in the Fragrance section :blushing:

This is a good Orange & Wood scent that lasts ~8-10 hours with just a few of sprays :thumbup1:. I prefer the Original Glory for the Grapefruit/Melon opening, better staying power ~10-12 hours with a few sprays.

What the...? Ironman Glory was introduced last August and already is out of production? Not listed on the Avon site. That doesn't speak well for the product. Even Derek Jeter Driven Black, just a decent spicy orange scent, is still being offered at full price after a couple of years on the market.

Avon does come up with a really good one now and then. I recommend Tomorrow, which is kind of a light, cocoa/coffee-ish gourmand, but far from over the top. It doesn't have great staying power, but at Avon prices you can afford to reapply frequently.

Had an ebay bottle of Ironman Glory delivered yesterday. I guess this is a case of YMMV, but now I understand why Avon removed all references to this nerve gas from its site so soon after it was introduced.

Wow! I have to eat my words about the site listing. :confused1
I went to the Avon site the day this thread started, and there was no mention of Ironman Glory anywhere, as I noted in my first post.
Maybe it's back by popular demand?

P.S.

I would still recommend Derek Jeter Driven Black as the way to go for an orange-tinged Avon scent. And according to the reviews on the site, that one had disappeared for a while, too, before Avon brought it back. Weird.

Weird, it wasn't there when I checked either...I might try the Derek Jeter. And, definitely personal opinion. I like it for a clean fragrance on the cheap.

Be careful though, Zack. The Driven Black isn't just orange, it's spicy, too.

And I'll still be following through on the other three or four recommendations you've made. Looking forward to them.

Sounds good to me! And, the other ones I recommended are nothing like this. This is a very basic scent while the others I mentioned have much more depth. Those will be more about taste, but honestly they're all very good in their own ways. Mr. Blass in my opinion is highly underrated.

Could be a seasonal offering, popular during the Spring/early Summer, I like the Glory but still prefer the Original.

Maybe! It wasn't on their site a week ago and now suddenly it is. Either way, if you look around, you can get it super cheap with the aftershave lotion and deodorant
