Removing wax from blade edge (russian 7 o'clock)

So I love me some Russian Gillette 7 o'clock blades but at least 2 times I have unwrapped the blade to find the wax holding the paper on was all over the cutting edge. Normally I'd just leave it on there, but since it is actually on the edge it will cause some problems. I let it soak in some 90% alcohol while I was in the shower and then scraped it off with my thumb nail and the shave went fine but I'm wondering if there is a way to do it so I don't have to touch the edge and risk damaging it. Any ideas?

I have read people corking their blades to make it a smoother shave, so I think running you blade edge through a cork would clean it up. If you can't locate a cork I've also read using Styrofoam in stead. goodluck

After the soak in the alcohol the wax is already real soft but it wont just "fall off" the blade without whiping. Thats the major problem.....

I'm guessing Gillette and others have been using the same process for awhile, and used to tell everyone how to clean it off, but someone must have forgotten to stick them in the newer packs.:glare:

I use an old SE blade to take off the glue. It comes off pretty easy...just be careful.
