Removing lacquer on a Tech

Hey guys, I'm contemplating removing the lacquer on my gold finish Tech. It has a few spots of brass on the head and handle, and I read in the review section how nice they look without the lacquer. Does anyone have pictures of how this might look, or have suggestions on how best to perform this?

I have used ammonia to remove lacquer from brass items. Just let it soak overnight.

jduffy's review said cider vinegar was a good thing to remove it. I don't know much about chemistry, but what would the differences be using something acidic (vinegar) as opposed to basic (like ammonia)?

Just a thought, or bit of info...if its a regular user...if you take it to the brass finish, you have to deal with the water spots and polish it to keep it looking nice...I have 2 News that are down to just brass and its a 2 times a month polish...it doesn't take long and they do look very good. But it is something to figure into the project.

I'll keep that in mind. It may end up being more trouble than it's worth.
