Just received a sample of Serge Lutens Sa Majeste La Rose and it sure seems dark and mysterious to me. That description of C&S 88 of Rose plus things more exotic that I read came to my mind when I used the La Rose. Strong rose, but not anywhere near what I would consider feminine.

I agree on Fahrenheit,

mine favorite is M7 by ISL, close second Brit by Barberry

and if you want a punch of sweet and wood in your (and other's ) face, try Angel for man, the blue stuff.

Have you tried Bel Ami by Hermes? Its one of my favs, but is an evening cologne. Very woodsy, cedarish.

Bel Ami is a favorite of mine.
