Recommend a birth-year razor: 1970!

I'm born in Nov 1969, I just picked up an 0-4 Super 109 off the bay for $15. It was a little dirty and tarnished when it arrived but I hit it with Scrubbing Bubbles and Maas after a long soak and the razor looks incredible. I also repainted the numbers as they were mostly faded, but it's bright and shiny now even the handle, you would never think it's over 40 years old. I'm still playing with the settings trying to find the one for me, but it's a good adjustable razor with decent weight and I found it easier to manouver around my nose than my EJ DE86 even though it's TTO.

However, I'm starting to subscribe to the theory that Gillette may have hit the pinnacle of design with the New Improved ....

This shouldn't discourage you from aquiring a birth razor, but try some older Gillettes as well.

1970 is my birth year as well. I have the long handle super adjustable, the short handle super adjustable, the gold plated super adjustable, and the super speed so far in the birth year collection. They also did a travel tech with a really short handle as well as the standard one.

My personal favorite is the short handled super adjustable, but handle length is definitely a personal preference thing. I didn't like the way the super speed felt and such over all, but they are usually found for like $15, so no reason to not get one if you find it, and see what you think.

I would recommend the Super Adjustable, long or short handle.

My opinion of Super Speeds after the 50's, other than the Red Tip, is that they're rattly and not well made.

I'm an O-4 date code also (October 1969), and I've been searching for one of the black and gold Slim Adjustables produced very briefly for the holiday season of 1969.

There's currently a P-1 GOLD version on the flea-bay going for a mozza!

Yeah, I've seen them go for upwards of $75, uncased and in only decent user grade. :( I got lucky and snagged mine in that condition for $35, but those deals aren't easy to find too often.
