Recent Purchase of New Dovo Red Bismarck

Hello

I recently began looking for my first purchase of a straight razor and ended up with a desire to own the Dovo red scales Bismarck w/ faux pearl band and Solingen inlay. However, most of the retailers listed this item as out of stock. On one shaving forum, someone stated they had bought the last red Bismarck. Still I was persistent and found a retailer who still has some stock from an order placed about 5 yrs ago. I placed the order with hesitation, but the razor arrived about a week later and sure enough, it's the red Bismarck.... the real deal.

If you've ever been interested in the red Bismarck, here is the link directly to the retailer's page for the razor. http://shop.bmvintageshaving.com/Dovo-Bismarck-Straight-Razor-6-8-DV-1057.htm

I've attached a photo of my razor received around January 16th, 2013.

Hope this helps someone :001_cool:.

Someone bought the last one? Big deal. I bought the first one. Yeah, that's the ticket. I bought it from Morgan Fairchild.

I have that exact model, and although it's neither my best nor most expensive razor, it's certainly a winner. It's beautiful, super sharp, very nimble for a 6/8, and probably the best bargain in a new Dovo- a lot of razor for the money.

Thanks for the compliments and comments on the Bismarck. I'm awaiting a 2 1/2" Scrupleworks Horween oiled horse hide and 2" practices strops and a set of Naniwa Super Stone hones from SRD in 5000, 8000 and 12000. Then grandpa's Sheffield with black scales gets some practice honing and stroping. The Sheffiled is an Extra Hollow Ground and is in fantastic shape from the early 50's.
