What's new

Ready for higher-end soap/cream and post shave. Suggestions?

I've been DE shaving for about two months now. Like most, I started at the budget end of the spectrum of soaps, creams, and post shave.

Currently in my arsenal is Proraso Aloe and Green Tea soap, Proraso Eucalyptus and Menthol Oil cream, and Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm.

These, in combination with soap made by a local shop, have done wonders for my sensitive skin. Much less irritation, redness, and dryness than I've ever had.

I can't leave well enough alone though. Many of you are to blame!

When I run out of Proraso and Nivea I'd like to move up the ladder to something higher end.

What recommendations would you make for someone with sensitive skin?

I've seen people recommend Trumper's, Taylor of Old Bond Street, and DR Harris so those are on my mind. Perhaps there are others I should consider. Your suggestions and experiences are appreciated.

Some higher end products to try:Castle Forbes, AOS, GFT, and TH.

In the end I have found that price alone is not the best criteria for finding the best products. I like Godrej and Palmolive, for example, and they are not expensive.

Mitchells Wool Fat has a really strong following here.

As far as ASB I really like the Neutrogena Razor defense balm. It's fairly pricey but is very soothing and has a nice but not too powerful scent, that won't compete with your cologne. It's also available in my local Walgreens which is nice. I like getting little presents to myself in the mail, but the convenience of buying locally is nice too.

Edit: Also, the Palmolive shave stick is highly regarded and something to consider in a dedicated travel kit.
