What are your thoughts on re-plating (chrome, nickel, etc.) razors? Opposed to a good cleaning and using tarnished, al-be-they polished, DE razors.

That depends on the razor. I would not plate a rare collectable Gillette razor. Otherwise a common razor is fine.

It's your razor, do what you want. If you re-plate it will look like new and will stop the spread of corrosion if present kind of like a new lease on life. Aesthetically (spelled right?) or cosmetically the razor will look like new, all nice and shiny. If you think you have a really rare piece and want to preserve the original condition then that's another answer. I shave with mine and I like them to look as nice as possible so I re plate them.
