Open it, use it, enjoy it.
You wanted to try...I say try it for a week and then sell it if you don't care for it, sell it.
Try it. It's great stuff. If you hate it there is no shortage of potential takers.
If you don't like it, I'm pretty sure you will be able to sell it for the same price you purchased it for in a heart beat.
The only issue if you love it and use it up, the "closest" replacement is much more expensive.
I had a great XXX shave this morning. I'm really gonna hate it when its finally gone. I just cant see $60 for a tub of AdP.
Honestly, can anyone tell me how long a $60 tub lasts in their rotation? To put in perspective, I could have likely bought 5 extra bigger coffees at starbucks per year for the difference xxx plus shipping cost me. And its still going pretty strong. I did buy AdP on sale though.
Plus the xxx container was such crap to keep costs down it was disappointing to me. Granted presentation is/was secondary, but still the white artisan series containers would have been way better for a couple more cents..

I'd say use it! I have a near full tub that I use occasionally. Not that I'm saving it, I've been trying some other soft soap/creams for scent and performance that I like. When I do use the XXX I alsways get a good shave. I swish my brush around on it in the tub and then apply to my face and always get a good lather.

Thanks for all the responses guys. It seems like the majority is saying "try it". Combine that with the PMs asking to take it off my hands, and I had to do it. I cracked it open this morning. Scent is not my favorite, but probably cracks the top five. Performance is great! Is all RR this good? This one will have a solid place in the rotation. Hopefully I'll get sick of it just as I run out so I don't have to worry about getting more.
All RR soaps are very very good but not quite on the xxx level. You will like the scent more after a few shaves.
I'm probably one of the biggest AdP fans on this site...I normally use AdP in the spring/summer when I wear AdP Colonia EdT which is 3 days a week. I use AdP in rotation with Santa Maria Novella and I shave 5 days a week. I'm just now beginning my second tub since joining this site 3 years ago. I bought my first tub of SMN at the same time and I have just enough to take me through spring/summer of this year. Long story short, I use AdP 3 days a week for 6-7 months a year and 1 tub has lasted me just under 3 years. FWIW...my fall/winter rotation consists of Mitchell's Wool Fat and Provence Sante. Two of my new favorites are TFS Tabacco Verde and TFS Bergamotto Neroli. I have a full tub of P-160 but it gets no play these days. FYI - it's rumored that TFS makes AdP and there a lot similarities. I apologize for being long winded but I went to Happy Hour tonight.
It's soap. Just use it...and enjoy it.
Sadly, no. I don't find the La Famiglia line to be as good. On the other hand, I like the shaves I get from King Louis Lavender and Caprician Lemon even better.
Which shaving creams/soaps work for you is pretty individual, though. I know some people that have tried a similar range and say the La Famiglia soaps are their favorite.
The R-160 is my favorite, but as songwind says, it's not all great.
My heavens open it up and give it go, I can promise you will not be disappointed . This is one of my favorite soaps, very easy to work up a super lather and very easy on the old face, and then use their after shave wax it is to die for. I have about one dozen after shave lotions balms and nine times out of ten I reach for the Razorock after shave !!!!
I had an odd peculiar scent pass through me while using XXX. Does anyone notice a similarities in scent to 4711 a/s? Maybe my mind was playing tricks.
