Razorock xxx - improvement?

I honestly don't see how joe can improve on this already excellent soap by adding tallow (if that is what he is planning on doing) .

After hearing that a new version of this soap is coming out anytime soon - I started using a very small soap I had left over and it performs flawlessly!

Were there any who were not satisfied with this soap? Why was it discontinued?

I don't have all of the details but I'm sure some here do. I believe the XXX was a short term marketing test between the two companies to sell Acqua Di Parma soap recipe in the RazoRock packaging.

Now that that deal is up Joe can't sell that soap using that recipe, so I think he's trying to make a "better version". Or at least come close using a different recipe that he can sell as his own.

If you really like the XXX soap it is the same recipe as the Acqua Di Parma soap. You can still get the soap, the only difference is the $60 plus Acqua Di Parma price tag.

I agree, for me it's going to be hard to make XXX better. Performance-wise it is definitely on top at this point. I could use it everyday, but I like to vary scents.

It is my understanding that the new XXX will simply be the RR King of the Castle formula with the XXX/AdP scent.

The original batch of XXX was identical to AdP and was an experiment of whether it would sell at a much lower cost with significantly cheaper packaging. It sold very well, but the manufacturer refused to produce any more product, likely at the behest of AdP.

The current king of the castle does not have tallow in it. The new RazoRock XXX will be tallow based.

I though the old formulation was fairly good, the scent made it outstanding. It lathered extremely easily, and performed very well. I still prefer the consistency and feel of some highly rated tallow based soaps.

As I understand it, the original XXX was limited because they only agreed to manufacturer a certain amount for Joe. So it was "discontinued" when it sold out.

I have a sneaky hunch that we may see something like the famous P160 formula but in different scents.

I think I read where the new product will have the latherability of XX with the scent of XXX. I havent used either but only relaying what I read here.
