Razorock XX

doctordial

my brain goes "thonk"
I tried my sample of Razorock XX today for the first time in months. It's a good performer just like all the other razorock products I have used in the past ,but still to floral for me. Anyone else think the same.

I got a jar each of XX and Don Marco 2 days ago after much anticipation. Love the scent of each. I don't get floral from the XX but rather something warm and comforting, hard to explain what it is. Initial impression was "cologne and baking bread."

Strangely I wasn't too impressed with the performance. It felt like I was shaving with bath soap. I probably just need to tweak the technique as the Don Marco lathered up much better. If the XX aftershave was a splash instead of a balm I'd pick it up.

I absolutely love the XX scent, however, I wasn't terribly impressed by it's performance. I guess it should be said that it definitely outperforms the price. I might play with it a bit more to see how it can be adjusted.

The performance for the price is un-matched - I agree it is floral but I like it, it is a great soap. Try not to over water and you get a thick yogurt lather. A new XXX is coming stay tuned.

I find, that most people load it like a cream, when it should be loaded like a soap; 40-45 seconds of swirling on top, then finish the lather on palm, in bowl, or on face, adding additional water to the lather if needed

Thanks, Joe. I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

i just picked up some Caprician Lemon saturday and really like it..lathers really good and love the scent ....

I don't know if that XX would work for me, but this may be more for cultural dissonance than the quality of the product. The Italian Barber site http://www.italianbarber.com/razorock-xx-artisan-shaving-soap describes it as "aromas...landscapes...of Italy". For a landscape to smell masculine if you are of a culture that excludes floral scents as an option is sort of hit-or-miss, and then some European and Middle Eastern cultures tend to have different attitudes on flowery-smelling guys. But I have a bottle of Razorock almond balm, and for 10 dollars I am really amazed at the quality of this product. It smells nicely of a scent which I like anyway, and it stays around at least twice as long as similar products which I've paid twice as much for, which evaporate in a poof of alcohol before you've screwed the cap back on!

I have the XX and what I do enjoy about it besides the shave is the post-shave feel that it provides to my face. Someone said the Arginine oil that is in the ingredients is a great for the skin.

I prefer the scent of XXX but performance wise they are both excellent.

The scent of XX is very pleasant, just not quite as good as XXX imho.

After changing to this technique and swirling on the container for 30 sec the lather was much better.

XXX is aqua di parma, a great slick, protective, explosive lathering elite soap with an incredible masculine but sweet scent that is strong. XX is a bit more luxurious and denser lather with a lighter more floral scent. Very different soaps but top performers both in my rotation.

Is there any comparison between RR XX and the now discontinued RR XXX? Thanks.

Wow, XX is more luxurious than XXX/AdP? I probably should be trying this stuff.

I have never used XXX, but I really enjoy the scent and performance of XX a lot! Also for the price, it just can't be beat. I like the RR soaps a lot and thinking of ordering the KotC Lavender next.

I love the scent of XX, but I'm curious if someone can help me out that has tried both XX and Razorock King of the Castle. Which produces a better lather? I'm looking for a thick, yogurty lather, and I can't get that with the XX. Does the King of the Castle produce one or is it similar to XX?

Also, if you have tried King of the Castle, how does it compare to the La Famiglia line of soaps? Even with my ridiculously hard water, I can get some of the best lathers from the La Famiglia Zi Peppino soap, but I don't like any of those scents. Please help. Thank you.
