Stirling Shave Soaps.....

I'm not sure I understand the question.

Is your primary issue with Stirling that you can't find scents you like?...or that the scents don't last long enough after the shave?

Personally, I don't expect the scent of any of my shaving soaps (or even my aftershave) to last. IMO, that is a job for cologne or EDT.

...and the scents of even my most costly soaps are fleeting.
Completely agree. Almost all my AS fade quickly or up to several hours at most.

I do have a couple AS that do last, though, but they are truly more like a cologne e.g. B&M Cologne Russe ("cologne" being in the name might be an indicator?) or Le Grand Chypre last for hours. B&Ms Cheshire or Seville while excellent scents do not last.

I currently use Stirling Baker street soap. had my new SOC c5 mistura brush i've been breaking it in with that soap only. After washing out the brush very well and letting it dry it smells of the baker street like fresh out of the can. I am ordering some Baker street EDT and going to try some sheep tallow. Good stuff, heard their EDT last a long time.

Soap and AF scent linger time is often about the nature of the scent fragrances. Citrus scents fade quickly because they are light and evaporate faster, while heavier scents like musk or tobacco or vanilla tends to linger. This is best exemplified in scent notes Top, Middle and Base. The top notes have a shorter life so they quickly fade leaving the base notes linger. This is why the scent changes over time - lets say and hour or so.

Stirling Executive Man, with Pineapple notes, fades fast. Their Varen, Haveford, Sirling Gentleman linger.

I have suggested to Stirling once when I was on the phone with them that it would be nice to include in the scent description, which ones fade fast and which ones linger.

I like Stirling, in part because I like to continue using at least one tallow-based soap for the sake of nostalgia. Also, it seems to be a good company with a well-made product. Unscented only for me. As has already been said several times in this thread, scented shaving soap is OK but unnecessary, imho.

I have several Stirlling soaps and enjoy them. One soap that I don't see mentioned often that has always performed well for me is ClassicShaving.com premium shaving soap. They have some great scents, they're hard pucks, and can be had pretty cheaply.

Just started using the Baker street soap from Stirling after years of reading favorable reviews here. I would support feedbacks about the scent, it’s mild, adds to the experience but first and foremost, the lather is…exquisite! made it a little runny today, will try again tomorrow. so happy to finally try i….scent For sure is an adder. Several comments in this thread do make me realize buying an unscented soap really makes sense for most.
