There's no "shaving gel" area so I'll just throw this here~.
A week ago I ordered a bunch of stuff from IB: The bakelite slant I've wanted FOR FRIGGIN EVER, the old style shave gel, new style shave lube, 888 spray aftershave lotion(plastic bottle because I'm cheap). I got the gel and lube so I could hopefully shave more than once or twice a week.
I just got enough time, and felt well enough, to give the shave gel a shot. I must say it is FANTASTIC. I used my Edwin Jagger 83 with a mostly used up Crystal Super Platinum on about 5 days of growth. At first I was a little uneasy because shortly after you rub it into your facial hair for 30 ish seconds it becomes nigh invisible and it looks like you're about to shave a uncovered face. But despite all of that I went ahead anyway and got a DAMN good shave out of 1.5 passes. 1 all over face then against the grain in the neck area. Minimal irritation (I used very little of the gel this first time) and felt great. After that I finished off with the spray aftershave lotion...I have to say I'm not a big fan of the spray bit. It says to spray directly on one's face and I must be a total idiot because I end up with it up my nose, in my eyes, all over my glasses, etc. This is just from spraying about 2" away on the cheeks and under the neck.
All in all would this replace brush+soap? Naw..but it's a whole lot better than anything non brush+soap related I've tried. Even the venerable Barbasol (albeit much pricier in comparison). Also a whole lot faster than brush+soap. Less prep and less cleanup. It would also probably be TERRIFIC for travel. Instead of packing a soap and brush..just toss in the little bottle of shave gel and be set. Smells pretty good too..kinda peppery.
Next up is the Shave Lube(EDIT: also probably with the slant..since the blade in the EJ is due for a change)..it's supposed to be better (according to the hype in the description on IB's website) so we'll see~
