Rainbow?

Just received my first DE razor from Amazon, a nice Mekur HD . Advertised as coming with 5 "free" blades. So I got one Merkur blade and a pack of 5 Rainbow super. These are made in Egypt as per the box. I thought I would get 5 Merkurs but hey I got 6 free blades. Anybody tried the Rainbow?? I see no review on these.

Thanks.

I received a bag of onesey samples with an order from a vendor who has since closed shop. It included ASCO Orange, Rainbow, Silver Star, Crown, Racer grey, Big Ben blue, and Shark Super Stainless. Got a good shave with all of them except the Big Ben.

Of the eight or more brands Lord markets, Rainbow is considered in the top echelon of the three levels of quality that have been identified elsewhere. I was impressed with the smoothness, longevity, and price of the Shark, so I made a bulk purchase of 100.

As always with blades, YMMV.

I didn't enjoy the Big Bens either, I found the Silver Stars treat me well but are somewhat hard to find. :thumbup1:

I still need to get my hands on some of the Rainbows. Like the others said they are a Lord brand made in Egypt, which makes like 7 types of Lord blades, 2 flavors of Shark blades, Asco, Crown, Racer, Rainbow, Silver Star, and Big Ben blades. I have tried most of their blades except Rainbow, Racer, and Silverstar and have liked them all. The Big Bens were even decent for me but not as good as some of the other offerings. My favorites from Lord are the Shark Super Chrome, Lord Super Chrome, and Crown blades. My suspiscion is that many of their offerings are the same blade in different packaging for different markets. From my trials so far I am thinking there are only 3-4 distinctly different blades in their stable regardless of the vast multitude of names/brands used.

I recieved a pack of these with an EJ89L purchase awhile back. I've found they provide a smooth comfortable shave with nice longevity; very similar to Shark Stainless blades and blue/red label Asco. Overall, I've found Rainbows to be a pleasant surprise and plan on buying more. As a bonus my 18 year old son liked the graphics on the Rainbow pack and ventured to give the thick handled Tech I bought for him a try out.:001_smile.......... Give 'em a try, hope you like them too.
