Quorum edt

I happened to be at TJ Maxx last night and bought a 3.4 oz spray bottle of Quorum edt for $14.99. According to a quick search on Google, I actually overpaid!

This is really great juice, albeit with 1980s power. "leather, tobacco and greens" as the on-line description goes, "[l]aunched by the design house of Antonio Puig in 1982 . . . ." Very nice leather and tobacco.

I knew that in recent years it was inexpensive. When did they start giving it away! I have not tried what I bought yet. A stocking stuffer for me! Anyone have any thoughts as to reformulations, etc.? Has it gone way downhill or anything?

This is stunningly inexpensive for what to me is a truely good masculine edt!

Hope they are not intending to stop making it. Bowling Green, for instance, seems not to show up on the inexpensive shelves these days, and I say little Grey Flannel.

I can't speak about reformulations or contribute anything other than this is an extremely well done scent that is a bargain, I love it. :thumbup1::thumbup1:

Quorum's been part of my rotation since I bought my first bottle for $38. over 25 years ago.
It's great stuff. I bought a new bottle for $10.99 recently and it hasn't been reformulated.

I'm glad to know this, as this has been a "new to me" fragrance, as I didn't try it, in fact I don't remember even hearing of it when it first came out. I've seen others positive comments about it here, and I have enjoyed it for the first time recently after picking it up the same way, in TJ Maxx for $14.99 for a 3.4 oz bottle. Getting a 3.4 oz bottle to try for about the price of a decant is a great way to try a fragrance!

By the way, other older colognes with a similar feel that have been recent "discoveries" for me have been Red by Giorgio Beverly Hills, Azzaro pour Homme, and one I haven't even heard of around here, Jaguar. I saw it for $19.99 last Tuesday, and did a quick check of reviews on Basenotes and was surprised by the positive comments. I agree with these positive reviews, it has a similar feel as Polo Green, and although it's very strong in sillage and longevity, it still feels slightly "lighter" than Polo Green. It's fun "discovering" these classics. :thumbup1:

Good stuff, powerful, I've been wearing Puig Quorum for a while now.

I was wondering about the aftershave, how does it compare? Anyone use this? I don't hear much about it but often hear mentioned other Spanish AS brands.

Quorum is an odd one for me. When I first grabbed a bottle last summer and tried it, it smelled of cigar tobacco and cumin. Deep, foreboding, with a sparkly grapefruit top.

When I really started wearing it in the fall, I found it smelled totally different, with much less tobacco and more of a piney/woody vibe, although a leathery/tobacco element was still there. Guess the difference in air temperature and lack of sweat changed the scent. But when I apply too much, the grapefruit smells saccharine and synthetic. I wonder if the boys at Puig traded down on the citrus component over the years from the original.

Robbie, I don't remember this one. I have probably owned it in the past though.

I do not really remember it from the past, at least very much. But I have a sense that it was there all along.

A lesser known 1980s power scent, that is/was right in there style and quality-wise with the other, better known, big scents of the time. Oddly, a bit of an outlier. Ironically, being lesser known is a good thing at this point. If one wears this scent, one can pretty much do so without fear that lots of folks will recognize it and think "wow, that is an oldie!"

The other interesting thing going for it, to me, is it is leather and tobacco (and some green). Leather and tobacco are classics. Timeless. Not likely to seem dated!

My favourite EdT (so far). It's like Clint Eastwood, Robert Mitchum and Charles Bronson all peed into a bucket and they added a touch of oakmoss.

I had a bottle of Quorom many moons ago and remember really liking it. I never got around to replacing it. You fellows are planting the seed again and I do believe I saw a bottle at Ross just a few days ago.

I sense an 'After Christmas Present' coming on.

I like this one but I don't find it has the power it's reputed to have, maybe it's been toned down in a reformulation I'm not sure. I get 6 hours of longevity if I'm lucky and doesn't have much projection.

I've had similar issues with it. This may have been a powerhouse once, but definitely not anymore.

This may be one advantage of not being familiar with it from the past. I had no idea of what might it have been like originally, so I wasn't disappointed with it's projection or longevity, although I do agree it isn't your typical 80's powerhouse. Seems to be tamer a version that has a different purpose today? Coincindentally, I'm finding I like having some colognes that stay a little closer for certain situations.

Agreed. The note pyramid for Quorum doesn't really indicate that it ever was a powerhouse, but then again, I don't know. That's not to say this stuff doesn't travel - I'm sure people two or three feet away can smell it a bit. But you know Kouros has that four/five/six foot reach . . .

I just checked online, and the price you paid for the 3.4oz spray bottle edt is quite good. I did not want to overpay, but see a good deal here. I saw the same item today, and will be going back tomorrow to buy it.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Oh yeah, I have a bottle of Grey Flannel edt which you can have for shipping. Actually, I may even pay shipping. I got it recently at JRs. Blind buy. Stupid, really. Just like this Quorum buy. I have not sampled it either. I'd trust your judgment, but hey, you like Grey Flannel.

I'm sorry! You should not trust my judgment! Happy to send you a sample of Quorum right away to save you the same result on Quorom.

To me both are late 70s earlier 80s power scents. Both should be polarizing. It should be their nature.

I have a good bit of Grey Flannel.

Best!
