Quoddy Shoes & Boots

I've been looking at Quoddy's shoes and boots on their website, and I really like them. Are there any other shoe companies that make shoes that look like their shoes. I particularly like their dawson moccasins, maliseet oxfords, and their tracker boots. However, they are much too expensive for my unemployed looking-for-a-job self.

Any other shoe companies in a similar outdoorsy style, but for a cheaper price (quality can suffer)?

Well, I was going to suggest you look into Russell but your budget precludes this. So does mine unfortunately.:blushing: As has been posited by others, you almost need to be well heeled (no pun intended) to buy a top shelf pair of shoes anymore. It is ridiculous. Those Quoddy mocs you posted up look nice. Thanks for the heads up. I had not heard of them.

Regards, Todd

I'll update when they arrive, which by the look of the website, they won't be in for a while.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the most obvious similarity-- LL Bean. These look almost identical to several Bean models, but are twice the price. I haven't bought a pair of Bean bluchers in a while (haven't had to, my 10 year old pair refuses to die), so maybe our more sartorially au courant members can enlighten as to whether there has been a declination in Bean quality.

I am suspicious of statements like this from the Quoddy website:

"In 1909 Harry Smith Shorey started making his own shoes in Downeast Maine. Today, the tradition continues in Perry , on the shores of Passamaquoddy Bay, smack dab on the 45th parallel; half-way to the North Pole and as far east as you can travel in the continental U.S."

See what they are doing there? Trying to make you think that they've been around since 1904. Sounds like yet another pop-up niche brands (like Christopher Ward watches or that cheap British shirt maker everybody likes) that will become faddish at the Haberdashery.

I don't have any experience with either of these two brands but sometimes two seemingly identical shoes can feel very different on your feet.
About 20 years ago I purchased a pair of Rockport chukkas made in the USA. When they wore out I went back to find the exact same model and tried it on and it was unwearable for me. It basically looked the same but probably had cheaper materials and the tag said made in China.

Not knowing much about shoes other than the brand I wear. They look very fitting for you bros! Off subject maybe but I wear Rockports! Very comfortable shoe! Other than the chucks I have all my other shoes are rockports! As said, very comfortable and fitting for my feet! Worth the extra money!

Big difference being made in china! I presume anyway, I've never had a problem with rockport! Good to have a fellow rockporter however!

After a quite a long delay, My Qoddy shoes arrived a few days ago.

they're outrageous, i feel guilty for wearing them to work because they're so comfortable. Im already looking at what else i can justify ordering from them.

utterly outstanding shoes, i am one happy camper!
