I'm sure its my technique I'm having issues with but once I get used to shaving with my straight is there a double edge blade it can be compared to? I mean will it cut better than a feather blade or as good as? What can I look forward to once this step back in time shave technique is mastered?

Feather could be a good example but you know, it depends on the honer and the straight. Your technique will influence the feedback too...
