Question on Wade & Butcher and Unknown (C. Stierenhofe??) . . .

Okay, my wife got these and won't tell me what she paid for them. They are a gift, because she thought they looked very cool even though I'm a DE guy. I don't see any pics of this W&S on the site, but am sure it is out there. The blade obviously says "Extra Hollow Ground" while the tang says "Improved Tang". What "should" she have paid for these? . . .

Here is the second razor. I've tried to take a pic and isolate the only stamp on it. Based on the name it looks German, but I can't ID it . . .

The W&B looks 5/8 and the second one, 4/8 maybe? Did you measure them.

They are not in a bad shape and probably not shave ready. I'd say $10-$15 each...

I personally would have paid more than $10-15 for the W&B due to their brand recognition, resale value, blade stamp and condition of it. Cleaned and honed it should be a fantastic little razor.

Can't say I've heard of the second one, but it looks nice as well, a little small for many peoples taste, but a decent looking razor none the less.

The Wade & Butcher is well after 1892, probably into the 20th century. The later England stamp and jimps (Improved Tang?) are what tell me that.

The other, I don't know. It is a good looking wedge, though. :thumbup1:

Thanks for all the info, folks!

The "Stiefenhofe" (sic) interests me, but not in the sense I guess of being too troublesome. I was hoping others had seen it and could ID it. I thought it was a neat little blade for sure.

I will be holding onto these and perhaps someday I'll make a dive into straights. I appreciate the insight--especially on "dating" the W&B with some of the features.
