Question for sandalwood fans

I have read a lot of the reviews of the various sandalwood creams and soaps. There seems to be quite a lot of opinion about the quality of one cream's sandalwood scent versus another. Which cream (or soap), in your opinion, has the best sandalwood scent? I'm looking to get one, and only one, sandalwood cream/soap and don't mind spending a little money but want to be sure that it is worth it. So, game on...

You're going to get different answers from everyone but here are my two scents:lol:

Cream: Greenpond Sandalwood
Soap: QED (unfortunately not really available anymore)

AOS, I think is the best cream in the sandalwood range. My next choice would be Trumper's. But, everyone has a different choice and preference.

Edwin Jagger/Muhle Pinsel Sandalwood is my favorite. I didn't like the others but then, I didn't try much. I only tried EJ/TOBS/Trumper so far.

Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood is very similar in fragrance and texture to Coate's Sandalwood, which was excellent before they stopped making it a few years ago. However, I seem to be utterly and hopelessly addicted to Castle Forbes Cedarwood and Sandalwood.

I have only tried AOS, but after smelling it, I decided to look no further. I liked it so much, I bought the soap as well.

You need to post a WTB for QED sandalwood soap. Second place is a verrrrrrrrry distant second.

This statement couldn't be more true. I always hate recommending a product that is no longer available, because it is just plain mean  However, in this case QED is so much better than everything else it has to be mentioned. If you are unable to locate a tub in the B/S/T, you might investigate the AOS Sandalwood soap. The AOS Sandalwood scent is sweet, but quite nice ... and the lather ... oh, the lather - is amazing!

I am using Trumpers at the moment. The T&H Sandalwood is a little sharper and dryer in scent, and I preferred its scent ever so slightly to the Trumpers. But the cost/performance tips the scale to Trumpers.

The Taylors is good performance and value but the scent is a bit too sweet for me compared to the two above.

I have a tub of the AoS Sandalwood and it is my favorite cream of the 4 I have. In fact, I love it so much I try not to use it, like I'm afraid they're going to stop making it or something. I'm cherishing it.

Has anyone else had a problem with the AOS cream not being slick?

I've been tweaking the water/cream ratio 100 ways, but I just can't get much lubrication--I had a brand new Astra and it was tugging. Maybe the soap is different?

(Or maybe Tabac has ruined me for everything else.)

Hopefully I will get my TOBS Sandalwood puck by Friday. I picked the one up with the wood bowl. Its already shipped so now I am just waiting for it to arrive. I love Sandalwood so hopefully this experience will be a nice one.

The cream can indeed be tempermental. Just keep working at it, and make sure you're using enough. The soap is the better choice, I think.

Make sure you have cleaned your brush. From what others have said, a clean brush is key to a good, rich lather.
