QEDman Cedar and Bay Shampoo Bar

With all the Shampoo Bar discussion (some of it is my fault) on the forum I decided to take the plunge and give it a shot. I liked the write up on the Cedar and Bay so that is what I went with. I have only used it twice, Saturday and this morning. The smell is really strong while you are showering but it calms down after about 30 minutes or so. My first impression so far, well it's mixed.

It lathers well, smells good and does what it should, but it completely stripped my hair of any oil, think prell shampoo from the old days. I really think this because of my standard routine. I lather up my hair, and leave it in till I finish scrubbing everything down, then rinse everything at the end.

I am happy enough with it so far, I am going to rinse after lather and see how that goes. I checked for reviews, but none were available.

Anyone else try this bar?

I have not put a link to the page as I don't want to be seen as a shill.

Carl, have you used shampoo bars before? Your hair will almost certainly need about a week or two to adjust to the new soap. Also, try a vinegar rinse afterward. Trust me on this. i hate the smell of white vinegar so usually use apple cider vinegar. Just mix about a quart or so of water with a tablespoon of vinegar. Pour it over your washed hair and towel dry. When you hair dries the vinegar smell is abated. In case you are sensitive to the vinegar you could try putting a splash on the back of your scalp before washing to see if there is any reaction. I doubt it but you never know. I cannot go back to the liquid detergent shampoos. I am going to try QED lavender and dead sea mud.

Cheers, Todd

I have not ever tried a shampoo bar before. Also I have just started shampooing my hair every other day (used to shampoo everyday), using a military brush now. I am going to use the whole bar (unless there is a game breaking problem) I am stubborn like that.

IMHO the good is outweighing the bad at this point.

I have started treating my cronic athelete's foot problem with apple cider vinegar with outstanding results, I guess I should just rinse my whole body in the stuff, LOL. I have never had scalp problems, what would ACV do for me?

ACV is the right PH level for your hair sort of acts as a conditioner, I noticed my hair felt much better after. I use it from time to time and love it. If you worry about smell it disappears rather fast.

I have started rinsing imediately, it is quite a bit better now. I think my hair and scalp is still adjusting to shampooing every other day. It is all coming together.

Last update.

This is a pretty good soap. I have split it into 4 sticks to make it easier to use. I just spent a week with really hard water and it worked just fine. Its a little off the beaten path for shampoo bars discussed on this site, but worth it, IMO
