Pyrate Cove Shaving Soaps- Bay Rhum & Lime

In my quest for a Bay rum / lime soap that I like, I decided to pick up a puck of this stuff. It was pretty cheap so I felt like if I didnt like it it would be no great loss.

In the interest of keeping this short and to the point, and for those of us that prefer the use of visual aides

Kind of smells like this:

For the rest of you who would prefer just a tad more elaboration:

I found it able to build a smooth and creamy lather. My soap lathering skills are kind of weak, so for me to be able to build a decent lather with it says a lot. The fact that it is a glycerine soap probably lent to that as well. It had a nice glide and the smell, although a little on the strong side was pleasant and carribean. I would describe it as "clovey" on the top, with a lingering hint of lime and a Bay R(h)um base. It rinsed off nicely and left the skin feeling a little tight, yet refreshed. Scent lasted about 25 minutes so far and while it is fading a bit, it is still quite detectable.

their description says:
Pirate’s Cove handmade pure glycerin Bay Rum & Lime Shaving Soap. is hand blended with pipettes using Shea Butter, Bay Rum Oil, Lime Essential Oil, Cocoa Butter, Vitamin E, & Rosemary Oil.Shea Butter is an all natural emollient & moisturizer derived from the fruit of the African Karite tree known for its anti-inflamatory properties as well as absorbing into skin without feeling greasy. Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E are well known for their natural antioxidant & moisturizing properties. Rosemary Oil is a natural astringent.,

Now, I dont know that I detected any rosemary...and I happen to like Rosemary so I think I would have noticed. Unless they were talking about this chick...

TL;DR If you like the clovey smelling bay rums... pick it up and give it a try. It's only $4. I think it had a good scent and performed well.

It actually inspired me to go pour a glass of Appleton Estate Extra 12yr. :a54:

As always, YMMV:thumbup:

I had $5.33 in my PP account. Like finding money in my pocket. I got the Pirate Cove Bay Rum & Lime. It's going head on with Ogallala Bay Rum Limes & Peppercorns when it gets here. Let's see who most shivers me timbers.

Thanks.

Edit: The Mandarin called to me. I had to get it, too.

That's funny. I got the Bay Rum with Lime and the Mandarin as well.

Got the Ogallala samples in the mail today. So far, I have not tried to lather them yet, but they definitely smell better. They have a powerful scent but not overpowering. they are a bit more delicate, but not weak. I think I am going to love these.

I got the regular Bay Rum, the Bay Rum peppercorns and lime, Bay Rum and lemongrass (mmmmmmm) Bay Rum sage and cedar (smells so good), Creamy Bay Rum and sweet orange (delightfully sweet, but not cloying and a good balance with the Bay Rum... reminds me of Antigua...dont know why really) and Bay Rum and sandalwood. I cant wait to start using these.

They send a 1 oz sample "puck" which for the $11 i feel like is a great value. I can probably get 5-10 shaves out of each of these, easily.

I am going to hold off on shaving until tomorrow because I am going to a wedding, but I cant wait to have a hard time choosing

So I went with the regular Ogallala Bay Rum. Pretty good scent, wears pretty quickly though. I actually think I prefer the Pyrates Cove... However, I have yet to get into the other Ogallala yet... time will tell.

Just ordered the BR with Lime and the Cucumber/Melon. Will give review once I get. Can't pass up two cakes for $7. Great price.
