Purist inspired, mutant, fixed blade thing

Like most of us I saw "The Purist" and desperately wanted one, unfortulately thats not very realistic for me but it got me thinking. I've had this concept floating round in the back of my mind for a while after reading a post over on SRP where I saw a similar project.
This blade came from one of the first ebay razors I ever bought. It had some nasty pitting and the heel was badly worn. A good canidate for an experiment.
The blade was ground, dremmeled, and hand sanded from 120 grit back up to 800 beore being blued. The handle is 2 pieces of black acrylic epoxied together over the ground down tang. Because the blade still shows some pitting I didnt want anything on this to look to shiney and pretty, so the handle has a matt finish and I even pulled out my dirty old 8 oz hammer to peen the pin and left it with some nice strike marks just for character.
I'm looking forward to trying this one out
Enjoy.

Holy crap, man! That looks fantastic! What did you do for the interior of the acrylic to make the tang fit in? Router?

I am just guessing but I think he said he used 2 pieces sandwiched together, so he must have used a router or dremel to make the slot for the tang???

Simply stunning. Now I not sure what I like more - the Gotta that you did or this one. As I have said previously if you decide to sell any or make some for commission let me know.

Wow, that is sure one fine looking blade. Really nice work. I particularly like the the lines and the added design elements. Reminds me of the type of stuff I saw in the design museum in New York earlier this summer. Those were bicycles, but the designs were indeed intriguing. You have a heck of a good eye for this. :001_smile

Yep, nothing too fancy in my workshop. Just used the dremmel with an engraving/routing type bit to remove the material on each side before sandwiching them together.
Thanks for all the positive comments everyone.
