Punktal slant

I thought I'd seen another of these around these parts. But it's the 1st metal Punktal I've gotten. And a nice slant at that. Although there appears to be some wear on the head in a couple photos, in person it looks totally unused, including coming wrapped in the waxed wrapping paper.

Unwrapped, it really looks like a new razor.

No case, just a nice shipper box. And what a hefty slant. Haven't tried it yet, but I will.

The lines of that razor are wonderful. Looks like something you might find someone using on a Zeppelin.

Beautiful Jake.

Wow, very nice as usual, an asymmetric head slant! Sure grip handle, too.

Nice find as usual Jake!

Nice Slant Jake. Was this the one on German Ebay a couple weeks ago? If so I was watching it and it looked to be in great shape

Thanks to brother Nemo who noticed the asymmetry of the head, I took a few more photos to illustrate this cool design. In addition, upon further inspection the bottom section of the head assembly is brass, or gold, it's unused so it's not lost its plating, it is really a gold color. Pretty classy design.

You can see the subtle but obvious difference between the 2 edges of the head.

Yep, I've been collecting the differential head razors for a couple years now ... I seem to find that usually the side with fewer slots is the more aggressive of the two.

I've nick-named them "fixed adjustable". They'll keep you on your toes, you need to pay attention! Don't have a slant version yet.

Hi,

I picked up a generic Solingen Slant off Zepp a few weeks ago, and have been learning it. I have learned to use the Fewer side for a few strokes, then flip to the Greater side and make a second pass over the same patch. The Fewer side leaves enough lather for this to work well. Then rinse and head for the next patch. This is actually accomplishing the same shave as I get from my Gillette New Long Comb followed by an Early Tech with two passes.

I find this to be pretty neat. :wink2:

Beautiful Jake.

Actually, Durex was the featured razor on the Zeppelins. It was a standard SB head shared by many companies doing business in Solingen. They are sometimes available through German auction houses featuring Zeppelin memorabilia. Comes in a very nice red cardboard box. Most of the time the razors are not in very good shape as the underlying Zinc has begun to effervesce through the chrome or nickel plating. Carried most frequently on the Hindenburg as part of the on board convenience package.

Great to have this additional information on the German razor culture. Thanks for these details. Very cool.
