Proraso Ultra Sensitive Skin hard cream

Hi guys,

I got this Proraso from Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada. The tub looks like this: $21zGQxMz2ML._SL500_AA300_.jpg

My biggest issue is with the way it lathers. I tried loading for 10s, 30s, 60s... more water, less water... nothing I do seems to make anything better than an airy lather that doesn't last and doesn't provide enough lubrication.

I keep hearing that proraso is EXTREMELY easy to lather, but that has not been my experience with this one (only proraso i have tried). It sort of lathers like my Col Conk glycerin soap when I only load it for 20-30s rather than a full 60-90s.

PLEASE HELP:blink:

Hmm, not sure. This is a great soap-wonder if you have a bad tub? or old stock or something? I'm using the same older version.
For this soap I usually use Marco Method , boar brush (ie Semogue 1250, Omega 10066 usually), ~30 seconds swirl in container with a really wet, soaked brush and then face lather. If I try loading the brush longer than that, I end up with pre-lather all over the place. How's your water quality?-from what I understand here in NYC the water is considered pretty soft.

Hope this helps!

I'm home from work today and bored so I did a test. Here's a pic showing above method + ~:45 secs of hand lathering-too bad today is not a shave day! :crying:

Mine kinda looks like that as well, except when I apply it on my face it disappears because it's not thick at all :( I'm gonna try again tonight when I get home

Well... it seems that this proraso is really NOT thirsty. I had to shake the brush quite a bit versus my normal Omega cream soap, and also add very very minimal water... just a few drops from my hand and that's it. It made a much nicer thicker lather, but still not the same quality as my old Omega eucalyptus.

That's interesting. Doesn't Proraso make Omega?

This is the product I used to begin my wet shaving journey. It's a shame it hasn't been working for you so far. How much pressure do you put on the brush when you load?

Quite a lot of pressure, I try to get the cream deep in the bristles before I go to the bowl

Hmm... Maybe try the Marco method posted above? It should perform the same as your Omega tub, it's the same manufacturer. And if that doesn't work then maybe your tub is just old or a bad batch or something. And if not that then maybe it just doesn't work for you, sadly not every product works for everybody. There are lots of other creams and soaps out there that will fit your fancy!
