Problems using super speed?

I've been using an old type ball end, and the other day I used my SS with a feather blade. The shave kinda, well, sucked.

Went back to the old type with a feather that was on it's fourth shave and it was great.

I wonder if my technique was bad on the SS that time, or if I just got spoiled to the little more aggressive open comb.

They are totally different animals and require a change in technique.
If you're going to try it, try it for at least a week straight to get the feel of it and how to use it. Once you know, you won't forget.
Use it like your brand new to this game and trying for the first time to shave with a DE.

P.S. Make sure it doesn't have any "drop damage" from a previous owner. Everything straight and line up? Blade exposure even on both sides? That kind of thing.

Yeah one time isn't enough. Also try different blades. What works in one razor doesn't necessarily work in one another.

I shaved for a over a month with a SS FT with no real problems, but when i moved to a 40s SS Black Tip, i have had 10 crappy shaves. Tonight i went back to my original DE razor a 34C and had a smooth one, just need to give my face a rest before moving on to something else.

If you treat it right and get your technique down the SS is a very smooth shave. I had the same problem going from a SS to an old type, the difference in technique may be small, but knowing how to use each razor with your face will mean great shaves.

Yeah, I think my technique was a little off from using the old type for awhile. I learned to shave with a SS many years ago, and had been using it just fine a few weeks ago.

Either the technique was off, or I just had a bad shave day.

I do seem to get better shaves with the old type...but maybe that's just because I'm using it more than the SS now. Had an awesome shave with the old type and a feather this morning...started to put something up on SOTD but didn't.

I think I'll pop a new iridium in the SS tomorrow and see if we can make friends again.

Yup, it was technique...the SS and I are friends again.
